I came up with this odd staccato bass line one night while Mike and I were goofing around waiting for David to show up. When David arrived we showed it to him and he filled in all the chords on top of it and we hammered out an arrangement. Rick wrote the melody and lyrics (with possible assistance from David?). Pepsi is on keyboards here. I like the arrangement, this is one of the best examples of Rick, David and I creating a song together.P4C - Live at HJs

The opening song of our set at HJs on Superbowl Sunday 1983 (?). You can hear the mics getting moved, the sound is spotty as we get our levels set. Pepsi (keys) is prevalent in this mix. Written by Veech (music) and Rick (lyrics). One of my better riffs and a great performance of this song.
Xairia was a Los Angeles progressive rock group in the late 70s - early 80s. The nucleus consisted of me (Veech Malone) on bass, David Winans II on Guitar and Mike Anderssen on drums. We had two vocalists, Rick Murphy and David Lamb. We had many different keyboardists, Beverly Neisius aka Pepsi, Javier Medrano, David Kaffinetti, Chuck Reeder, and numerous others.
This page will serve as an archive of some of our recordings. I am posting tracks from live performances, studio recordings and rehearsals. These are all transferred from cassette so the sound quality varies. I hope you enjoy hearing these as much as we enjoyed playing them!
I have about 40 tracks to upload, so check back occasionally.
